Hookworm morphology

Hookworm ova have a thin hyaline shell, bluntly rounded at the ends. They usually are in the 4-8 cell stage and the developing ovum fill the shell. They tend to have the typical "spaghetti meatball" appearance.

Measure between 60-75 mm by 36-40 mm

Nectar americanus and Ancylostoma duodenale, the two genera, cannot be distinguished on the basis of their eggs. Culturing of the larvae is required.

The first stage larvae can be confused with Strongyloides stercoralis
